Prince of Peace

“Fear not, for you will not be put to shame;

And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced;

But you will forget the shame of your youth,

And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

Dear God,

Please help us. You forgive us and give us chances to grow in our faith.

You hand us opportunities to learn new things. You challenge us with adverse circumstances and difficult people.

Please let me love like you do.

Help me to judge situations correctly,

To be obedient and trusting. Help me to reject the role of

Church critic,

Skeptical bystander,

Second-guesser, armchair quarterback.

I lift up to you those who are out there

Doing missions,

Preaching sermons, counseling,

Serving you in ways I do not.

Please support them when it gets tough.

Take my bank account and mouth and body

And use me to support them when you call me to it.

Forgive me, Lord, for standing on the sidelines,

Woefully shaking my head.

Please soften the stony ground that it might receive your seed

And spring up, a fruitful tree.
